Hottest, Coldest Entering IL

With Oddsmaker Nick Bogdanovich

It's going to be very interesting to see how the betting markets handle hot and cold teams this weekend and the next few weeks during Interleague Play.

*Do you 'throw out the records' when rivals play each other? Or, does it matter that Florida's in a bad slump as they visit Tampa Bay?

*Will motivation overrule records? Meaning…will Milwaukee get fired up with a rare trip to Fenway Park and win a series against red hot Boston? Or, will the Chicago Cubs respond to sellout home crowds against the New York Yankees this weekend at Wrigley Field?

*Will we see that one league is superior to the other league in a way that makes recent form irrelevant? A few years ago, hot NL teams were crushed just as badly as cold NL teams when the AL was dominant.

I'll be watching that very closely myself this weekend as an oddsmaker, handicapper, and big bettor. There are some definitely some teams I've been having success with that I want to keep riding (I hope you swept the board with me Wednesday Night with my big PARLAY!). I sure don't want to back those teams if their bubble is about to burst though.

Here's a look at some of the hot and cold teams entering this weekend (records are through games of Wednesday Night because of publication deadlines).

Boston 10-1 its last 11, 23-7 its last 30
Minnesota 10-2 its last 12
Detroit 12-5 its last 17
Seattle 18-10 its last 28

I try not to get too specific in my web articles about possible plays. I need to protect that information for my clients. But, I will say that nobody should be surprised if one of those four teams shows up as a big play for me at some point in the next week! It can be tough to find value with Boston because everyone expected them to be great this year. The other three teams are still affordably priced as a general rule. You should be looking for ways to take advantage of that.

Philadelphia 9-2 its last 11
Milwaukee 19-7 its last 26
Arizona 22-10 its last 32

Too bad Milwaukee is playing Boston this week, and Philadelphia is playing Seattle. Well, too bad if you like taking hot teams and betting against cold teams. Those matchups might create some underdog value on the more unheralded teams, so be on the lookout for that. Arizona may be cooling off after that long successful stretch given the first two games of the San Francisco series this week. But, I do like what I'm seeing from a few of their starting pitchers.

Oakland 2-13 its last 15
Cleveland 3-10 its last 13
LA Angels 4-10 its last 14

The Indians were long overdue to cool off. I wrote a couple of articles about 'pricing the Tribe' this year already. They're not making it any easier with their erratic play! That's good news for gamblers though who can stay in synch with their ups and downs. Oakland has fallen apart lately, and must face the San Francisco Giants again after getting swept in an earlier series. Maybe the Giants will come in overconfident. I have to say I expected more from the Angels this year. On some nights they really impress you. Those nights have been surprisingly rare the past few weeks.

Florida 2-16 its last 18
Houston 2-10 its last 12
Chicago Cubs 5-14 its last 19

Florida has been horrendous the past few weeks given how many of those games were at home. I've mentioned often that we follow the Cubs very closely out here in Nevada because so many bettors (and oddsmakers) have Chicago roots. So far it's another year of heartbreak for Cubbies fans. It's getting more and more expensive to fade these teams when they play on the road. At home, you can pick your spots against them and do well.

I will have something big for my clients each of the next three days based on my read of the markets and the projected lines for the probable pitching matchups. You can always purchase my BEST BETS here at the website with your credit card. Plays go up a few hours before first pitch. I have great rates for the rest of the season that offer the most bang for your buck.

I'm really looking forward to all the Interleague games. Whatever the sport…whatever the challenge…remember that the best information always comes to you DIRECT FROM NEVADA!
