NL Tired Of Losing

Handicapping Tips From Legendary High Roller TONY SALINAS!

I think the National League is SICK AND TIRED of hearing that they're the lesser of the two leagues. They've been spanked in Interleague play in recent seasons, and they'd like nothing better than to have a big 2010 and shut everyone up.

That could come into play this weekend because:

*Whenever you tell a bunch of guys they don't have a chance, they'll do whatever they can to prove you wrong.

*The National League has actually held its own in the 'opening weekend' recently, before fading later on when they had to play a bunch of games in a row against the American League.

I think the NL has been getting fired up of late, but they eventually ran out of gas because they were the lesser league. Underdogs can give you a great game or two...but it's hard to string together great performances if you truly are worse than everyone else!

Worth noting:

*The NL has started importing some AL talent. I think that's helped reduce the differences between the leagues.

*Rivalries get the juices flowing...and we have several rivalry matchups this weekend. I think that's also part of the reason the NL has done well early in recent seasons. The first big weekend is often packed with rivalry games because the league wants media attention.

*Bad AL teams did poorly last year in IL play, suggesting that things were starting to even out. There are a few bad AL teams again this year that may get overpriced in the rush to favor AL teams on the moneylines.

*I like some of the youngsters I'm seeing in the NL this year. They weren't even around for prior seasons...and may help bring things back to even from this point forward. Maybe the AL spent more money in the past on high priced talent. In terms of building with youth, the NL should be able to do that just as well as the AL. There will be spots this weekend and all summer where you can take advantage of that.

I've got some great stuff planned for Saturday and Sunday in the bases. I'll be looking for value wherever it's offered, so I'll probably have a mix of NL and AL selections. I've got time-proven strategies that have worked very well in IL action since it started. And, of course, I'll always have the umpire edges, weather edges, and streak dynamics in play that GET THE BEST OF IT against the line no matter who's playing. Imagine the power of umpires/weather/streaks when also mixed with the motivational factors involved with Interleague play!
