NBA Regular Season Win Projections

NBA REGULAR SEASON WIN PROJECTIONS ON OPENING DAY FOR PRO HOOPS!

The 2013-14 NBA season officially tips off Tuesday Night, highlighted by Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls visiting LeBron James and the defending World Champion Miami Heat in a game that will be televised nationally by TNT. That makes this the perfect time to look at a composite of “the final word” on regular season win projections from the legal sports betting markets.

We’ll start in the East because that’s where the champions play! We have a very clear separation between the have’s and the have not’s once again…with a handful of good teams, and a slew of very bad teams. In fact, the bottom of the barrel is so bad, that even mediocre teams like Detroit, Washington, and Cleveland are projected to get close to .500 just because their schedules are so soft.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Miami 61.5

Chicago 57

Indiana 55

Brooklyn 52.5

New York 50

Washington 40

Detroit 40

Cleveland 40

Atlanta 39.5

Toronto 36.5

Boston 28

Milwaukee 28

Charlotte 27

Orlando 23

Philadelphia 17

The markets are expecting that only five teams will really matter in the East. Maybe there’s a chance that one of the teams projected near .500 will make a big jump forward given consistent health from their stars. But, for the most part…the regular season in the East will be a long string of exhibition games that will eventually set up an exciting Final Four in the conference brackets come playoff time. So many lousy teams!

Let’s move to the West…where a few championship caliber teams will be battling all year for supremacy…

WESTERN CONFERENCE

LA Clippers 56

San Antonio 55.5

Houston 55

Oklahoma City 54

Memphis 51.5

Golden State 51.5

Denver 46

Dallas 44.5

Minnesota 40

New Orleans 40

Portland 38

LA Lakers 34.5

Sacramento 31

Utah 26

Phoenix 19.5

There still a dichotomy between the have’s and the have not’s. But…the battle at the top is going to be something special because there’s such relative parity between the Clippers-Spurs-Rockets-Thunder-Grizzlies-Warriors in terms of talent and championship potential. Get ready for some very exciting basketball to be played amongst that sextet!

And, teams who project near the .500 mark over here in the West are going to be decent too because they’re doing that against a tough schedule. New Orleans? Yup…the market things the young Pelicans can make a run at .500 this season…which means making a run at the final playoff spot.
