Another day, another dollar and another winner in the world of bet and sweat and today it starts all over again. I pushed my current record in big game plays last night to 5-2 as Old Dominion (-4 1/2) slipped by Virginia Commonwealth 70-65 and had to hit 58.5% from the floor to get it done, proving once again nothing is easy when March Madness arrives.

The stakes are high for most teams and they were just that in last night's Colonial Athletic Association championship game between ODU and VCU. The winner was going to the NCAA Tournament and the loser was headed for the NIT. The CAA is going to get two teams into the big dance and the other one is George Mason, which lost to VCU in the tournament.

Under these circumstances, bettors know it is going to be a battle to win and cover in every game. I personally knew this game was not over when Old Dominion went to the half up 13 points, 39-26. As a bettor I did not even move into a comfort zone when ODU went up by 18 in the second half.

No good basketball team is ever done, and Virginia Commonwealth is a very good basketball team. Like any other team playing for its life, you do what you have to do to try to win. VCU went into a full-court press 3 1/2 minutes into the second half, trailing by 18, and denied ODU a basket on nine straight possessions, while outscoring the latter 26-9. With 4:26 to play, VCU was down but one point, 55-54.

I took Old Dominion on the basis of the little elements of handicapping. The Monarchs came to the tournament playing their best basketball of the season and were going for their eighth straight win. VCU entered the post season standing 1-4 in its last five games and came into the championship game off a stunning 79-63 upset victory over George Mason (26-6) and was thus in major negative bounce-downward mode.

The last detail that put me on Old Dominion was its rebounding. The Monarchs lead the nation in rebounding and controlled the boards against VCU by a decisive 38-23 margin. The lesson in all of this is two-fold:

  1. The betting lines are rock-hard. There is no such thing as a soft number at March Madness time.
  2. Because betting lines are so tight, one must dig deeply into the fine print and little details to find the edges that make the winning difference in a world ruled by points and half-points.

It's not easy, but the winners are out there. We just have to work harder to find them. For the record, I also released two 3-unit plays last night and went 1-1 with then, winning outright with underdog St. Peter's (+8 1/2) in its 62-57 win over Iona, while losing with South Dakota State 9+2 1/2) which was crushed by Oakland, 110-90.

50-Unit Underdog Cashes Tonight

The top play on today's college conference tournament schedule will be a play on a 50-unit underdog that grades out as the straight up winner. I am releasing this game, plus two other standout plays (also night games). And am confident I will again get the money. You can win the 50-unit game, plus two additional best bets, for just $50, charged to your major credit card. Better yet, get on board for my entire March Madness package for just $199 and play right through the national championship game April 4.

Cash Another 15-Unit NBA Ticket Tonight

While I am off to a powerful start in the college post season, the NBA is also getting my daily attention and it is of note I am 6-1 with these games over the past eight days, including last night's winning 15-unit power play on the Houston Rockets (-4) in their 22-point, 123-101, win at the Sacramento Kings.

Tonight it is more of the same. I am coming right back with another 15-unit NBA power play and should win it just as easily as last night's game. Win this 15-unit power play for just $15, charged to your major credit card.
