Media Too Obsessed with Kentucky Win Streak

By Wayne Root:

When the undefeated and #1 Kentucky Wildcats take the floor Tuesday at Tennessee (7 p.m. ET on ESPN), the main storyline will be whether or not THIS is the game where Kentucky finally loses. That was the storyline when they played at LSU on TV last week. That was the storyline when they played at Florida in the big prime-time showcase before that.

Even handicapping and betting radio shows here in Las Vegas are talking about it! What are the odds that Kentucky will run the table? Should you bet that they will or they won't? Is there any value left on betting Kentucky to win the National Championship? If the topic is college basketball, that's what they're talking about.

It's a testament to how boring the college basketball regular season has been for many sports followers that this story is overshadowing everything else. There's not much else going on! Plodding Wisconsin is dominating the Big 10. Gonzaga will probably run the table in its conference with minimal drama. Arizona and Utah are having a nice race in the Pac 12…but it's a two-team race rather than a four or five-team race. Basically, ESPN is showing games hoping that a home underdog springs an upset so its fans will storm the court. So little is at stake otherwise.

Veteran handicappers know the following about Kentucky:
*They will be favored in every game they play (barring injuries)
*They will probably stub their toe somewhere
*They are likely to lose focus prior to the tournaments
*They are far from a sure thing to dominate the latter rounds of the Dance

A few opponents have had last second shots that would have tied or defeated them. That's likely to happen again down the stretch, over three neutral site games in the SEC tournament (particularly in the semifinals or finals), and over six neutral site games in the Big Dance (though, it's unlikely they'd fall in a 1-16 matchup!). Obviously, coach John Calipari would rather lose now than later. If you're going to stub your toe, do it in February when it's basically meaningless.

You longtime followers know that WAYNE ALLYN ROOT is THE KING OF UPSETS. I certainly have my eye on possible spots where Kentucky could fall. I had a PINNACLE winner on Florida plus the points in Gainesville that cashed the ticket even though the Gators couldn't spring the shocker. I can't tell you here if I'll be on Tennessee Tuesday night, or Mississippi State a week from Wednesday night. You have to be a paying customer for that! I will tell you this:

*I think Kentucky WILL stub its toe before the Dance
*I think Kentucky will be generally overpriced in the build-up to the Dance
*I think Kentucky will have at least one very nervous game in the Dance.
*I think the mainstream media is missing too many other major stories!

If you're only casually following college basketball, you might be surprised at how tight the pointspreads would be if Kentucky were playing Virginia on a neutral court. Or Wisconsin, or Villanova, or Duke, or the Pac 12 powers. You think Kansas is afraid of them? It's not a great year for the SEC, even if ESPN is telling you otherwise to hype their broadcasts. There are other powers who can take out Kentucky in late March. Particularly a nervous Kentucky that's thinking too much about the history books rather than making shots.

Here's the main thing I want you to remember today. There are edges to exploit all over the college basketball schedule right now. Maybe the star power isn't there in terms of major conference races of future NBA talent. We're not here to be entertained, we're here to make money! Stop worrying about the relative trivia of whether Kentucky finishes 40-0, 39-1, or something-worse-and-one. Be sure you're focused on beating pointspreads wherever openings are created.

I'll help! You can purchase my daily BASKETBALL BEST BETS right here at the website with your credit card. If you have any questions about which of my long term programs best suits your individual needs, please talk to my representative in the office at 1-877-ROOT-WINS. You can call any day this week during normal business hours. This is a great time to get locked in for all basketball through MARCH MADNESS or the NBA PLAYOFFS.

I'm the only man in the sports betting industry with a star on the "Walk of Fame" here in Las Vegas. I'm always a few steps ahead of the oddsmakers. That's because they spend too much time watching TV pundits and listening to radio shows! If an oddsmaker ever gets his own star, his will naturally be a few steps behind mine.

Kentucky may or may not be destined for another National Championship season. I can tell you that THE KING OF LAS VEGAS is destined for another world championship season! It's time for YOU to go to W.A.R. alongside WAYNE ALLYN ROOT!
