NFL is in SHOCK with current Playoff Races
NFL is in SHOCK with current Playoff Races!
By Wayne Root:
You’ve probably heard the media trumpeting the news already. The ARIZONA CARDINALS have the best record in the NFL. And, if the playoffs started today, the postseason wouldn’t include the San Francisco 49ers...or the Green Bay Packers...or the San Diego Chargers...or the Baltimore Ravens.
The world has changed so much in just a couple of weeks...and there are some huge differences between Preseason projections and what we’re seeing right now.
How about the current “seeds” in the NFC?
3...Philadelphia (but QB has a broken collarbone)
4...New Orleans (but winning division with a .500 record)
5...Dallas (but QB has two fractured vertebrae)
6...Seattle (still hungover from Super Bowl celebration)
That’s right...everybody was thinking Arizona and Detroit would be the bye teams! And, given some of the injuries behind them...it may be hard to chase them down in the standings. Can the Eagles trust Mark Sanchez to win for them? The Cowboys now know for sure they can’t trust Brandon Weeden, and Tony Romo’s mobility is severely limited when he’s favoring his back.
Things aren’t quite so crazy at the top of the AFC, where New England and Denver are in their regular spots at the top of the heap. The only current difference from last year’s roster is that Pittsburgh has surged into the mix while injury riddled San Diego has fallen out after a recent slump. But, there are so many teams within striking distance of the Wildcard that somebody like hard-charging Miami, Buffalo, or Cleveland could still sneak in. All three of those projected also-rans are tied for the last spot, but miss out in the tie-breaker to Kansas City. All three are currently ahead of San Diego and Baltimore!
Whenever things “don’t make sense,” WAYNE ALLYN ROOT is there to profit for his clients. You saw me exploit that for years on television. I’m still doing it on the internet because THE KING OF LAS VEGAS is at the top of his game. I’m not going to get specific because I’ve already mapped out some very big plays this week and next to take advantage of this developing dynamic. Here are some guidelines handicappers should be following amidst the bedlam.
*Remember to evaluate the teams based on their inherent quality at the moment, not on what the standings are saying. Dallas is not a 6-2 team with Weeden or with an injured Romo. They were playing so well that they were a legitimate 6-2 or 7-1 team before Romo got hurt.
*Remember that “surprise” winners tend to get very nervous down the stretch...and have trouble playing to the inflated expectations that are created by their own-lost records. I will definitely have some UPSET CALLS in the coming weeks that will be exploiting that advantage.
*Remember that teams who peak in October or early November have done so TOO SOON! They’re going to fall back to earth because of opponent adjustments, injuries, or just natural regression. Believe it or not, the teams who look best right now are great fade opportunities going forward.
*Remember that an “us against the world” mentality is a gold mine in NFL handicapping. Usually only one or two teams in a given season can pull that off. Seattle did so last year. I have my eye on ONE team right now who’s capable of matching that. I’m not going to tell you who it is here. I do strongly believe that you should go about figuring out for yourself who that is. Or, at least finding the best 2-3 nominees. Most of the current success stories are in for a rude awakening. At least one is NOT!
*Remember that contenders are most vulnerable to upset the week after they’ve won a huge game. It’s impossible to maintain peak intensity week-in and week-out during the second half of the season. The second half of the season has just begun! Study everyone’s schedule to see if you can anticipate the peaks and valleys for emotional intensity.
*Remember that upset calls are keyed by both a flat favorite AND an underdog who can score points. Look at all the teams currently out of the playoff races who are still clearly bringing an effort every week with quarterbacks who can drive the field. Pay particular attention to all the first and second year quarterbacks who may just now be learning to drive the field. One of the kid quarterbacks will be engineering a shocker very soon. I’m very confident of that.
I’m also very confident that my recent hot streak on huge plays is going to continue. You can always purchase my BEST BETS right here at the website with your credit card.
