Tebowmania in Las Vegas

Tebowmania in Las Vegas

If you live in a part of the country where ESPN is your main source of news, you might have the idea that Tebowmania has taken over the United States at the expense of almost every other NFL story. Here in Las Vegas, where you have to back up your analysis with your own money to earn any respect, the situation has been much more nuanced, and interesting.

Oh...Tim Tebow is still a big story! But, he's a big story because he's divided betting preferences in such dramatic fashion.

  • Factions in the general public are buying into the hero hype...and are betting him to cover pointspreads. This isn't the most religious city in the world...but, when bettors are rooting for their side, they can get very religious! You will certainly find pockets of people who are riding the Tebow wave right now. What's to stop them? They keep cashing tickets?

  • Skeptical professional wagerers, who have seen flashes in the pan in all sports over many decades, figure the bubble is going to burst at any minute. They keep betting against Tebow because they saw how poorly he played vs. Detroit...and any team that can get a lead on Denver is likely to pull away and coast to victory because Tebow's style isn't well-suited to playing catch up. For all the hype you hear on ESPN about how great Tebow is, there's just as much venom from some old-school bettors here in town about how overrated he is.

I've zigged and zagged myself in recent weeks, trying to find the best value for my clients. I did have a big outright winner on Denver over the New York Jets in that Thursday Night game you probably watched on TV. I didn't like Tebow's chances on the road last week in Minnesota against a team who could stop the run. Minnesota's quarterback did more to cover that game for Denver than Tebow did unfortunately.

Heading into Sunday's big home game against the Chicago Bears, the Broncos are on an incredible straight up and pointsread run. Since their blowout loss to Detroit:

Denver (+7) beat Oakland 38-24
Denver (+3) beat Kansas City 17-10
Denver (+6) beat the NY Jets 17-13
Denver (+4.5) beat San Diego 16-13 in overtime
Denver (+1.5) beat Minnesota 35-32

That's five wins...AS UNDERDOGS...and five covers by margins of 21, 10, 10, 7.5, and 4.5 points. Oddsmakers are getting closer as you can see. Have they finally found the right number today by making Denver a favorite of -3.5 over the Bears? Have they overshot the mark because the public is overreacting to the "Denver's in first place" hype from the TV networks? Or, is Caleb Hanie of the Bears so bad as a backup quarterback that this will actually be Denver's easiest game in a month?

I have some very strong opinions on the Sunday NFL card. You'll have to sign up for my selections to find out if the Chicago-Denver game is in the mix. I can tell you that this is a heavily bet game here in Las Vegas because:

  • The Tebow lovers are now out in full force because of this hot streak

  • The Tebow skeptics are still certain he's playing way over his head

  • Fans of the Bears defense think they'll overpower Tebow

  • Bears backers who just lost twice on Hanie want to bet against him!

There aren't that many games on the Vegas board where the action truly splits. Sportsbooks may pull that off here, which guarantees them a huge profit in vigorish regardless of what happens in the game. All I can say is that WAYNE ALLYN ROOT is very confident today that he'll be earning a huge profit for his clients!

Maybe I'll be on Denver. Maybe I'll be on Chicago. Maybe Chicago is my advertised NFL Underdog of the Year!

You can purchase my Sunday NFL here at the website with your credit card. Or, call my handicapping office at 1-877-766-8946. Be sure to ask about early season basketball when you call. We have a great week of college hoops coming up. And, the NBA is now set to begin on Christmas Day December 25th. Seasonal packages still offer almost their entire full season value because it's so early.

This is going to be a big day in the NFL playoff picture because so many teams have to keep winning for seed positioning or to earn a Wildcard. Both Chicago and Denver are in that category...AND they have the Tebow drama front and center! I'm THE KING OF LAS VEGAS because I know how to win big money in the biggest games.

My UNDERDOG OF THE YEAR might be on the Bears...but it could just as easily be on a quality team like Houston, Tennessee, Philadelphia, or the NY Giants. Maybe it's in a "home upset" spot with somebody like Carolina or Arizona. Maybe I'm stepping out on a double digit dog that offers scoreboard value like Oakland, Minnesota, Kansas City or Indianapolis.

There's only one way to find out. Enlist right now to go to W.A.R. alongside WAYNE ALLYN ROOT!
