ACC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - at Charlotte, NC
#1 CLEMSON (11-1, 7-1 ACC) vs. #7 MIAMI (10-1, 7-1 ACC) - 8 p.m. ET, ABC
The defending champions are back on top of the College Football Playoff heap (for now) and the Las Vegas folks have 'em at nearly a double-digit betting favorite for this under-the-lights clash ... and why not! Clemson roars into this affair on a five-game SU (straight-up) and three-game ATS (against the spread) winning streak with a defensive line that sports NFL-caliber talent but the real key to this game could hinge on whether or not the Miami "D" can force opponent miscues - gonna see more of that "Turnover Chain"? - as the 'Canes led the country at plus 17 in the turnover margin department.
Spread Stats - Clemson has been a betting favorite in each of its dozen games so far and the defending champion Tigers have cranked out a 7-4-1 ATS mark. On the flip side, Miami is a solid 11-7 versus the vig away the past three years.
BIG 10 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - at Indianapolis, IN
#8 OHIO STATE (10-2, 8-1 Big 10) vs. #4 WISCONSIN (12-0, 9-0 Big 10) - 8 p.m. ET, Fox
Maybe all you need to do to get the Wisconsin Badgers in an angry state is say the following ... 59-to-nuthin'! Yes, that was the final score in the 2014 Big 10 Championship Game when the O-State Buckeyes blasted the Badgers and catapulted themselves right into the playoffs and then Urban Meyer's guys wound up winning it all ... will a Wisconsin upset win here now propel Paul Chryst's club into the "final four"? If that happens, then RB Jonathan Taylor (1,806 yards rushing) must hang onto the football and the Wisky defense must rattle hobbled quarterback J.T. Barrett whose knee woes figure to hamper his running game here.
Spread Stats - Ohio State is just 13-17 ATS in all Big 10 games while dating back to late in the 2014 season while Wisconsin's 17-8-1 spreadwise overall since the very start of the '16 season.
NFL WEEK 13
On Sunday, it's ...
MINNESOTA (9-2) at ATLANTA (7-4) - 1 p.m. ET Fox
There are three blockbuster games on this NFL Week 13 card - all of 'em are starring NFC teams - and this bash in Hot-lanta gets the day off to a riveting start and who would have guessed that heading into this game it would be Minny sporting the higher-scoring offense (see 24.6 ppg to Atlanta's 24.1 ppg)? If Minnesota slinger Case Keenum (14 TDs/ 5 INTs) can step up in the face of pass rush pressure and hit some long balls, then the Vikes should make it eight wins in a row.
Spread Stat - Minnesota is 39-21-1 ATS as underdog sides since the start of the 2011 campaign.
CAROLINA (8-3) at NEW ORLEANS (8-3) - 4:25 p.m. ET, Fox
Crazy to think that the NFC South could produce a third consecutive Super Bowl "rep" - Carolina went two years ago and lost; Atlanta went last year and infamously melted down - but if the N'Orleans Saints wish to be that third straight NFC South team to make Super Bowl plans it better start by winning at home here after looking sluggish (see 3-of-13 on third-down plays) in last week's not-as-close-as-it-looked 26-20 loss at the LA Rams. Meanwhile, Carolina scored a pair of non-offensive TDs in last week's 35-27 win at the NY Jets and QB Cam Newton was off his game - it might come down here to whether Saints slinger Drew Brees or the aforementioned Newton plays more effectively in red zone situations here.
Spread Stat - The Saints have covered their last five in a row versus the Panthers.
On Sunday Night, it's ...
PHILADELPHIA (10-1) at SEATTLE (7-4) - 8:30 p.m. ET, NBC
Get the feeling that the sports media at large already has christened the Philadelphia Eagles as your new NFC champion? Be careful, you "experts", because there are still five regular-season games remaining for Doug Pederson's crew and - as they say - past performances are not always an indicator of what's to come! Meanwhile, Seattle has been ravaged by injuries all year long and something tells us do-everything QB Russell Wilson could run it 15 times and throw it 30+ times in what could turn out to be a shootout in the great northwest. Is the totals price too low at 47 points? Hmm, check with us at 1-800-323-4453 or here online on game-day morning and we'll clue you in!
Spread Stat - Philadelphia has covered 12 of its last 14 games overall.
