It’s Miami at Carolina on MNF to Close Out Week 10
THE NFL WEEK 10 UPDATE:
BOTTOM FALLS OUT FOR BRONCOS, GIANTS - AND IS IT THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THE COWBOYS TOO? ...
OUR MNF GAME PREVIEW: IT'S DOLPHINS-PANTHERS ...
COLLEGE FOOTBALL KEY WEEKEND FACTS & FIGURES
There's no doubt about it: NFL life can be extremely cruel even if your franchise has experienced major successes in the past. Just go ask the Denver Broncos and the New York Giants.
These once-proud organizations have combined for a dozen Super Bowl appearances between 'em (seven for the Broncos, five for the G-men) in their history and yet this here-and-now 2017 NFL season has turned into a major train wreck for both clubs.
The Broncos dropped to 3-6 SU (straight-up) this season with Sunday Night's embarrassing 41-16 home loss against the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots - and just for the record the Broncos are 2-6-1 ATS (against the spread) and they have not covered a game since Week 4!
The Giants, on the other hand, have been free-falling right from the very start of this '17 campaign and - following Sunday's 31-21 loss at previously winless San Francisco - here's NYG sitting with a 1-8 record (worst franchise start since the 1980 season) and the Giants are a rotten-to-the-core 3-6 versus the vig.
Imagine that: The Broncos entered the season at 16-to-1 odds to win it all; the Giants were 15.5-to-1 and yet they've combined for four SU wins between 'em and an ugly-as-sin 5-12-1 ATS mark. Egads!
It was Denver's special teams that really put 'em in a deep hole on Sunday night - the Broncos surrendered a 103-yard kick return for a score by New England's Dion Lewis, they had a punt blocked and return man Isaiah McKenzie muffed yet another punt and that all conspired to put Denver into a 27-9 halftime deficit.
If special teams coach Brock Olivo is not fired this week, then something's really wrong!
As far as the Giants go, well, gotta say it's high time to axe the head coach and make wholesale changes to this secondary: Ben McAdoo may or may not have "lost" his locker room but it's painfully obvious that this NFC East crew is a major mess and the loss at 3-point underdog San Fran should be the official tipping off point. True, the Giants have not fired a coach in-season in 41 years when Bill Arnsparger was canned following an 0-7 start back in 1976 but this has become a major sports disaster on the biggest stage in our country. McAdoo should be gonesville this week and the Giants should waive/cut/release the likes of DBs Eli Apple, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris "Jackrabbit" Jenkins. 'Nuff said.
JIM HURLEY IS THE MONDAY NIGHT MASTER!

In other NFL Week 10 News ...
As our headline suggests, it's not only the Broncos and Giants who are falling to pieces this 2017 season: The Dallas Cowboys could be headed to a crash-landing finish too as evidenced by Sunday's emotionless 27-7 loss at 3.5-point fav Atlanta.
True, no RB Zeke Elliott for the 'Boys as his on-again, off-again suspension was (finally) upheld but Elliott's absence was the least of the Dallas worries as normal LT Tyron Smith missed the game (groin/back injuries) and fill-in Chaz Green was abominable as Falcons' DE Adrian Clayborn gobbled up a franchise-record six quarterback sacks.
Still, it was an overall blah effort by the Cowboys who actually got some decent runs from RB Alfred Morris (11 carries for 53 yards) but WR Dez Bryant was invisible (four catches for 39 yards) as he often is in big games and the Dallas defense let far too many receivers catch passes in wide-open spaces - the 'Boys have a three-game home stand coming up with games against Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Chargers (on Thanksgiving Day) and Washington ... maybe they don't necessarily have to sweep this home stand to get into the playoffs but losing two-of-three will pretty much finish 'em off. Trust us!
On Monday Night Football, it's ... MIAMI (4-4) at CAROLINA (6-3) - 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
The Carolina Panthers figured there would be a good chance they'd be "looking up" at a team ahead of them in the NFC South standings this year ... they didn't think it would be the New Orleans Saints (7-2)! So, here's a shot for Ron Rivera's crew to get even with the Saints in the win column (note the Panthers get their bye this coming weekend) and the key to success here as 9-point home favorites is to have QB Cam Newton (1,978 yards passing but only 10 TDs and 11 INTs) dink-and-dunk his way down the field and not allow the likes of DL Ndamukong Suh and friends to get their footing/momentum as pass rushers while the flip side says Miami must get QB Jay Cutler heated up from the start - he's thrown seven TDs in his last eight quarters of play.
Spread Stats - Carolina has failed to cover three-of-four home games this year but overall the Panthers are a solid 18-10-1 ATS in non-NFC South games. Miami is a strange 3-3-2 versus the vig this year but the Fish are a decent 10-7-1 spreadwise as underdogs since late 2015.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT
We'll have plenty of time/space later this week to really dig into some of the college football news items but let's backtrack just a bit to this past weekend with some Facts & Figures ...
Miami's epic 41-8 win against 3.5-point favorite Notre Dame - a Jim Hurley Network Winner! - featured four forced turnovers by the uber-aggressive Hurricanes' defense and how about the fact Notre Dame's RB/QB combo of Josh Adams and Brandon Wimbush combined for 64 rushing yards before ND put away the ground game away for the night ...
And Oklahoma's potent 38-20 win/cover against 6-point pup TCU on Saturday night featured a 333-yard, 3-TD showing by Heisman Trophy frontrunner QB Baker Mayfield but what about the fact the Sooners averaged 7.9 yards per play against a TCU defense that had held five different opponents this year to 7 points or less!
NOTE: Lots of College Football goodies in tomorrow's edition of Jim Sez.
