Jim Sez Saturday NFL Previews and the SEC

MORE NFL PRESEASON WEEK 3 QUICK-HITTERS PLUS COLLEGE FOOTBALL GOODIES - WE LOOK AT THE SEC

Let's get right to a busy six-pack of NFL Preseason Week 3 games here set for this final Saturday in August:

On Saturday, it's ...

KANSAS CITY (0-2) at CHICAGO (0-2) - 1 p.m. ET, NFL Network
Are the Bears gonna get any production here from first-round draftee OLB Leonard Floyd who is battling hamstring woes that have limited his practice time? No pass rush and the Bears are staring at another lost season, folks.
Current Line: Chiefs (- 1.5) and 41 points

PHILADELPHIA (2-0) at INDIANAPOLIS (1-1) - 7 p.m. ET
No question the Colts' secondary is getting scrutinized on a daily basis and we're wondering whether old hound CB Antonio Cromartie - signed just last week - is the answer. No DB Vontae Davis (ankle) till further notice.
Current Line: Colts (- 3) and 44 points

DETROIT (1-1) at BALTIMORE (2-0) - 7 p.m. ET
The Ravens say QB Joe Flacco will play in this tilt after sitting out summertime wins versus Carolina and Indianapolis but who's gonna be #2 on Baltimore's quarterback depth chart when all's said and done ... Will it be Ryan Mallett, Josh Johnson or Jarrod Johnson?
Current Line: Ravens (- 3.5) and 42.5 points

Yes, the NFL Preseason Week 3 card rolls on this weekend including the New York Giants at New York Jets (one of six games on Saturday) and that Sunday tripleheader (a Fox twin-bill beginning at 1 p.m. ET and Cincinnati at Jacksonville at night-time on NBC). As you well know, the College Football 2016 campaign swings into high gear this Friday when California battles Hawaii in Sydney, Australia (10 p.m. ET kickoff) and then there's a full week/weekend card scheduled for Thursday, September 1st and going right through Labor Day.

Folks, you definitely want to be in the winner's circle for all the big opening-week tilts such as #2 Clemson versus Auburn, #5 LSU versus Wisconsin, #3 Oklahoma vs. #15 Houston and #1 Alabama vs. #20 Houston - all of these games are on Sept. 3rd and there's plenty of exciting tilts before and after that key football Saturday. Take note that Jim Hurley -- America's #1 Handicapper - also continues to bang out lots of winners in Major-League Baseball these days and all you need to do to win in the NFL Preseason, NCAA Football and MLB is to check in either right here online or via our toll-free telephone # of 1-800-323-4453 any time after 1 p.m. Eastern time for the weeknight action, after 11 a.m. ET for weekday games and after 10 a.m. ET for Saturday/Sunday/Holiday Winners ... can't beat that, right?

NEW YORK GIANTS (0-2) at NEW YORK JETS (1-1) - 7:30 p.m. ET
The "battle for bragging rights" has had a bit of a negative tone this week as the Giants fend off the criticism in keeping PK Josh Brown (domestic violence incidents) while the J-E-T-S have swatted down talk that Geno Smith will drop to #3 on the depth chart behind starter Ryan Fitzpatrick and second-year slinger Bruce Petty. The "Snoopy Bowl" is at stake, for goodness sakes!
Current Line: Giants (- 2.5) and 43 points

TENNESSEE (1-1) at OAKLAND (1-1) - 8 p.m. ET
It's stating the obvious that the Raiders' offense looked lost in last week's 20-12 loss in Green Bay as QB David Carr had a flat performance and the wide outs just didn't show up - wanna give fans all that reason for optimism, silver-and-black?
Current Line: Raiders (- 3) and 42.5 points

LOS ANGELES (2-0) at DENVER (1-1) - 9 p.m. ET
The Hard Knocks crew - a/k/a the LA Rams - are more than just a little worried about rookie QB Jared Goff (see two fumbles in last week's 21-20 win against Kansas City) and we might see extended playing time for the Cal kid here just to get some kinks out.
Current Line: Broncos (- 5) and 42 points

COLLEGE FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK

Our Jim Sez conference-by-conference look at this upcoming 2016 season rolls on as we check in on the SEC:

SEC
THE FAVORITE - Alabama
The Tide's copped four national titles in the past seven years and the oddsmakers say they're gonna do it again but navigating through an SEC sked that calls for road games at Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee and LSU ain't going to be easy.

THE DARK HORSE - Arkansas
The Hogs won six of their final seven games a year ago and that beefy O-line (three players tipping the scales at 325 pounds or more) could flatten a bunch of foes in the days/weeks ahead.

COACH ON THE HOT SEAT - Les Miles (who else!)
The Bayou Bengals better be in contention for one of the New Year's Six bowls at year's end or Miles might be waving bye-bye.

GAME OF THE YEAR - Nov. 5, Alabama at LSU - Need we say anything else?
