Don't know if you're superstitious or not when it comes to past Preseason results but last year's Super Bowl teams - the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers - each won their Preseason Week 1 games ... so there!
Hey, there's some folks out there that'll tell you the Preseason "doesn't matter" but it does to us here at Jim Hurley's Network and we banged out a batch of Week 1 winners including Minnesota's 17-16 triumph over Cincinnati (a Pick 'Em game after the Bengals had opened as a 3-point betting favorite) and Indianapolis' 19-18 win at 2.5-point fav Buffalo and so check this out before we get to Thursday's NFL Preseason Week 2 action:

NFL PRESEASON WEEK 1
On Thursday Night, it's ...
PHILADELPHIA (1-0) at PITTSBURGH (0-1) - 7 p.m. ET, NFL Network
Told y'all about Eagles' rookie QB Carson Wentz and his hairline rib fracture - we won't be watching him play anytime soon and so there could be an honest-to-goodness battle for first-string quarterback between incumbent Sam Bradford and career backup Chase Daniel but word is the Steelers are gonna play here "for keeps" after veteran head coach Mike Tomlin was perturbed with the many mistakes committed in last week's 30-17 home loss to Detroit.
Current Line: Steelers (- 3.5) and 40.5 points
CINCINNATI (0-1) at DETROIT (1-0) - 7:30 p.m. ET
Plenty of optimism in/around Motown with QB Matthew Stafford still surrounded by lots of capable targets after the off-season retirement of WR Calvin Johnson but is Detroit's O-line up to the challenge here or protecting Stafford and the backup slingers? Last week the Lions' first-round draftee OT Taylor Decker (Ohio State) allowed a sack/fumble plus he committed a key third-and-2 holding penalty after the Lions entered the red zone.
Current Line: Lions (- 2) and 41 points
OAKLAND (1-0) at GREEN BAY (1-0) - 8 p.m. ET
No doubt everyone's chatting up the Raiders as a "now team" but we don't go overboard just yet - one thing to watch here is how Oakland's first-round draft pick S Karl Joseph (West Virginia) reacts to the multi-faceted Green Bay passing game that may or may not have QB Aaron Rodgers who will play here if GB plays its starting linemen and boss-man Mike McCarthy claims that'll be a game-time decision.
Current Line: Packers (- 3) and 42.5 points
CHICAGO (0-1) at NEW ENGLAND (1-0) - 8 p.m. ET
No QB Tom Brady last week for the Patriots (family memorial service) and really would not expect much "face time" here as Jimmy Garoppolo (completed 11-of-18 passes for 168 yards last week versus New Orleans) will play at least a half against a Bears' defense that has major issues in the secondary. Yes, Chicago was the league's only team to get shut out last week when QB Jay Cutler was sacked twice by Denver.
Current Line: Patriots (- 3.5) and 40.5 points
ATLANTA (1-0) at CLEVELAND (0-1) - 8 p.m. ET
The Browns' home fans get an up-close and personal look at recycled QB Robert Griffin III who completed 4-of-8 passes for 67 yards with an INT in last week's 17-11 loss at 1.5-point dog Green Bay - look for the Falcons' defense to apply some pressure in the pocket and see if RG3 is tempted to tuck it and run ... he better not!
Current Line: Cleveland (- 2.5) and 37 points
MINNESOTA (1-0) at SEATTLE (1-0) - 10 p.m. ET, NFL Network
Remember that Vikings' RB Adrian Peterson never plays in the Preseason but one thing Minny would like to do here is target TE Kyle Rudolph (zero catches in last week's aforementioned win at Cincinnati) who has played just 17 games over the course of the past two years. P.S., Seattle rookie RB C.J. Prosise (hamstring) just returned to practice earlier this week but is not expected to play here as the depth chart continues to list the former Notre Dame star as third string behind Thomas Rawls and a greatly improved (or so say the reports) Christine Michael.
Current Line: Seahawks (- 3) and 38.5 points
COLLEGE FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK
Time to start feeding you Jim Sez readers more and more College Football goodies as we near the start of the 2016 season and here's a quick-hitter look today at the American Athletic Conference:
The Favorite: Houston
The Cougars copped a shocking Peach Bowl win against Florida State last year and wound up ranked #8 in the land; now Heisman Trophy candidate QB Greg Ward, Jr. (2,828 yards passing with 17 TDs and 1,108 yards rushing with 21 scores) is ready to embark on his senior season and a year-opening win against Oklahoma could be a springboard to the College Football Playoffs. Note the Coogs are 25-12-1 ATS (against the spread) since the start of 2013.
The Dark Horse: Navy
Keep in mind Navy will host West Division favorite Houston on Oct. 8th but the $64,000 question is can Middies' QB Tago Smith step into the vacated shoes of Keenan Reynolds? Maybe he can! We say 9 and maybe 10 wins for the Annapolis crew.
Game of the Year: USF vs Temple (Oct. 21) Winner likely snags the East Division crown in the AAC
