THE JIM SEZ WEEKEND REPORT
WE CHECK OUT NBA'S CONFERENCE FINALS PLUS OUR BASEBALL NOTEBOOK INCLUDES METS' HARVEY AND OTHER EARLY-SEASON DUDS
It's getting to be a real bragging rights deal in the NBA:
Hey, we just came off a 2015-16 regular season in which the Golden State Warriors nabbed a league-record 73 wins and now we're deep into the post-season and here's the Cleveland Cavaliers sitting pretty with a 10-and-oh SU (straight-up) mark in playoff action.
The Cavs were a whopping - 1500 (to $100) betting favorite when they entered this now ongoing NBA Eastern Conference Finals series with the Toronto Raptors ... in other words, nobody thought the Raptors were gonna win the best-of-seven set, but now it's becoming increasingly likely that the Cavaliers are gonna roll to a third straight playoff sweep and keep in mind no team in NBA hoops history has ever started off a playoff run with a 12-0 record.
More on the Cavs-Raptors plus the Western Conference Finals bash between Golden State and Oklahoma City in just a moment but first this key reminder.
Jim Hurley and his Network of Handicappers and Bloggers have been bashing the books right from the start of this year’s NBA Playoffs and nothing’s gonna change here as we head into the Conference Championships. We’ll continue to rock-n-roll our way through the NBA post-season – and you can purchase Jim’s NBA Post Season program right here at www.JimHurley.com or call 1-800-323-4453 each/every day and be sure that we’ll send you straight into the winner’s circle.

On Saturday, it's ...
EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS
CLEVELAND at TORONTO - Cavaliers lead series 2-0; Game 3 at 8:35 p.m. ET, ESPN
It's been a simple plan of attack for Cleveland so far ... and that's to attack!
The Cavaliers have averaged nearly 28 points per quarter in this playoff round while going hard to the hoop - yes, LeBron James (23 points in Game 2) isn't meeting any resistance at the rim with Raptors' injured C Jonas Valanciunas (bad ankle sprain) on the bench but how about the ball movement displayed by Tyronn Lue's club.
Dare we say it's been better the past couple of games than at any point this whole season?
No word on whether or not Valanciunas is a "go" here - we happen to doubt his Game 3 availability - but worse yet for these Raptors is they're a rotten 5-11 versus the vig this post-season and sure show plenty of quit when things seem to get out of hand in the second half.
Can we see some heart, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry (see 12-of-32 FG shooting from the floor in Game 2)?
Here's how this playoff series has gone so far between the Cavaliers and the Raptors (note all home teams are in CAPS below):
On Sunday, it's ...
WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS
GOLDEN STATE at OKLAHOMA CITY - Series tied 1-1; Game 3 at 8 p.m. ET, TNT
The NBA up and did it again ... they broke the every-other-night momentum of playing a playoff series just so the TV partners could skip a Friday night game (lower ratings on average) and so we'll finally resume this best-of-seven set after a three-day hiatus and Okie City's hoping the "break" helps 'em find its three-point shooting mark after the Thunder took itself out of Game 2 by missing 16-of-23 triple tries. Ugh!
Hey, Golden State has not found itself down in any series so far this year - Steve Kerr's crew was up two games-to-none before losing Game 3 to Houston back on April 21st and the Warriors also sported a two-games-to-love lead against Portland before losing Game 3 on May 7th and keep in mind both of those road losses came after multiple-day breaks in those series ... hmmm.
One key to watch here in this Western Conference Finals Game 3 bash is whether or not Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant can be a consistent factor from start to finish. Durant missed a load of shots in the fourth quarter of Game 1 and almost allowed G-State to steal that game and then scored just six of his Game 2-high 29 points after intermission the other night.
Here's how this playoff series has gone so far between the

THE BASEBALL NOTEBOOK
It has not been all peaches and cream this year for a few of MLB's "name" players ... we'll explain:
MATT HARVEY, RHP, New York Mets - No doubt the low point of his still-young career happened Thursday night at Citi Field when the Washington Nationals battered Harvey to the tune of six earned runs (nine runs overall) in 2.2 innings of work and so his ERA's ballooned to 5.77 and there's serious question as to whether he'll make his next scheduled start come Tuesday night ... in D.C. Think the Las Vegas price was "correct" when it had Washington's Stephen Strasburg favored (- 126) over Harvey a couple of nights ago?
PRINCE FIELDER, DH, Texas Rangers - Wait a second, 149 at-bats and only two home runs so far? The sluggish start for this plumpy DH is a bit alarming especially when you consider the .282 slugging percentage and fact that Fielder has as many Ks as hits (29 apiece while entering Friday's game in Houston).
YASIEL PUIG, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers - Is this guy simply a big tease for Dodgers fans? After all, we're 149 at-bats into Puig's 2016 campaign and he is hitting .235 with only four home runs and just 10 extra-base hits. Maybe the Dodgers should've shopped more aggressively this past off-season, eh?
