The Jim Sez NBA Report - Playoff Quick Hitters
THE JIM SEZ NBA REPORT
WHAT A "WOW" NIGHT INDEED AS THE WARRIORS MAKE HISTORY WITH WIN #73, KOBE KILLS IT WITH 60 POINTS IN HIS FAREWELL GAME
PLUS THE PLAYOFFS ARE ALL SET AND WE DELIVER QUICK-HITTER COMMENTS ON ALL 16 POST-SEASON TEAMS
The Golden State Warriors just re-wrote history ... too bad for them they had to share the regular-season finale stage with Mr. Kobe Bryant.
In one of the great NBA nights ever - and we mean that - there were the Warriors swishing their way to a 125-104 triumph over 17-point pup Memphis en route to the NBA single-season record of 73 wins while down the coast in "Cali" there was Bryant putting on one of the great exhibitions in league history with a 60-point night in a wild 101-96 come-from-behind win against 3.5-point favorite Utah.
If you didn't have "picture-in-picture" then your TV remote likely got a big-time workout on Wednesday night but the bottom line is everyone left the night happy as Steph Curry's mesmerizing 46-point game powered G-State - now you know why the Warriors are listed as a high as a -150-to-$100 betting favorite to win it all this spring? - while Bryant's legendary career ended in a big bang even though he staggered out of the starting gate and looked lost in the game's first five or six minutes.
Bryant waves bye-bye now to the NBA world with five titles stuffed inside his gym bag while Golden State - beginning Saturday - looks to become the first NBA team since the 2009 and 2010 Lakers strung together back-to-back crowns.
Here's the first-round matchups and the Game 1 schedules and below you'll find our quick-hitter comments on all the playoff teams:
On Saturday, it's Indiana at Toronto, Houston at Golden State, Boston at Atlanta and Dallas at Oklahoma;
On Sunday, it's Detroit at Cleveland, Charlotte at Miami, Memphis at San Antonio and Portland at the Los Angeles Clippers.
Let the fun-n-games begin!

Please note that our Jim Sez NBA Playoffs series-by-series previews will fill up the next two columns right here in these web pages - just remember the "Second Season" gets underway on Saturday afternoon with four games each on Saturday/Sunday ... but right now we wanted to take a few moments to give y'all a line or two about each team in this year's post-season:
#1 CLEVELAND (57-25) - The Cavaliers may be one of the most dysfunctional top seeds in recent playoff history but odds are they won't even have to play an elimination game until they get to the NBA Finals.
#2 TORONTO (56-26) - No question that this Raptors backcourt starring DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry is top-notch but this franchise hasn't exactly enjoyed post-season play in recent years.
#3 MIAMI (48-34) - Sorry, but not overly convinced that G Dwyane Wade can "go to the mat" for more than a single playoff round this spring.
#4 ATLANTA (48-34) - Last year's numero uno playoff seed in the East still has some stars with G Jeff Teague averaging nearly 24 ppg in recent weeks.
#5 BOSTON (48-34) - One of two "sleeper" teams in the East and not afraid to claim Brad Stevens might be the best "game coach" from among the Eastern Conference teams.
#6 CHARLOTTE (48-34) - Yes, the other "sleeper" team in the East and G Kemba Walker could be the story this spring ... we told you first!
#7 INDIANA (45-37) - Who's gonna play "Robin" to Paul George's "Batman" after this born-again star averaged 23.1 ppg this year?
#8 DETROIT (44-38) - If C Andre Drummond spends more than a few moments per night at the free-throw line, then the Pistons will be ousted quickly.
#1 GOLDEN STATE (73-9) - Make no mistake about it, there's major heat on the Warriors to win back-to-back titles now and you do have to wonder if the stress-and-strain of winning record 73 games has 'em sapped in terms of a long run.
#2 SAN ANTONIO (67-15) - Yes, the most under-the-radar plus-.800 team in hoops history but someone's got to tell us if F LaMarcus Aldridge (18 ppg and 8.5 rpg) is gonna be a true star in the post-season.
#3 OKLAHOMA CITY (55-27) - If the Thunder didn't have to get through both San Antonio and Golden State, we'd give 'em a real good shot to bring home the gold trophy.
#4 LA CLIPPERS (53-29) -- No doubt Doc Rivers' has his guys playing their best ball of the year (see nine wins in 10 games prior to last night's so-what loss in Phoenix) and last year's post-season collapse versus Houston could be major lesson.
#5 PORTLAND (44-38) - Incredible one-two punch of Damian Lillard (25.1 ppg) and C.J. McCollum (20.9) will be major pain in the rump for the above-mentioned Clippers.
#6 DALLAS (42-40) - If the Mavs wish to turn back the clock and think title this year, than guard J.J. Barea (groin) must be 100 percent or real close to it.
#7 MEMPHIS (42-40) - Is there anyone left to play on this battered bunch? Whatta shame this team is so darn short-handed.
#8 HOUSTON (41-41) - Is it possible James Harden (28.9 ppg) can will his way to a couple of wins against Golden State in Round I?
