Jim Sez Thursday College Previews
HERE IS A TASTE OF THURSDAY'S JAM-PACKED COLLEGE HOOPS MINI-TOURNAMENT MENU - AND WHO MIGHT BE SOME OF THIS WEEKEND'S REAL MONEY-MAKERS
Here's a news flash ...The College Basketball Conference Tournaments will have their busiest day/night of 'em all here on this Thursday, March 10th with a resounding 59 games on the docket with some 17 different conferences/leagues in action ... now, folks, that truly qualifies as "March Madness".
Here at Jim Sez we've been saying for years and years that these "mini-tourney" games have their own special magic when you consider an ill-timed loss here or there could crush a team's NCAA Tournament hopes and rest assured there are plenty of "bubble teams" - maybe as many as 12-to-15 real-life bubble teams out there right now -- that need to win here on this Thursday in order to either cinch a "Big Dance" bid or at least feel a whole lot better about their NCAA Tourney chances.
In a moment, we'll get to a few conference overlooks on this big day but first this important reminder ...Jim Hurley and his Network of Handicappers and Bloggers will keep steamrolling their way through March with loads of College Basketball Mini-Tourney winners and take special note that The Network March Madness Package includes all of the Conference Tournament Games along with all the upcoming NCAA Tournament Games plus all the other post-season tournaments such as the NIT, CBI and CIT Tournies too. Get it either right here online or at our exclusive toll-free telephone # of 1-800-323-4453 - plus don't forget we're banging out lots of NBA Winners too these days and so go ahead and join the fun and profits today with all the hardwood action this month.
Now, here's some of what we'll be watching on this Thursday in Conference Tournament action ...
BIG 10 CONFERENCE - at Indianapolis, IN
One "rule of thumb" that we like to follow at this time of the year is to check out the bubble teams out there and go against 'em in their first mini-tourney game providing they are in the favorite's role ... hey, most of 'em are gonna be extremely nervous and so we'll be considering anti-Michigan and anti-Ohio State plays here, so make sure you check with us game-day morning at 1-800-323-4453 or online here for those potential plays. If you wish to check out a Big 10 team that might pile up some profits this week it could be undervalued Wisconsin now that the Badgers have locked up head coach Greg Gard with a new shiny contract.
ACC - at Washington, DC
The top four seeds all zoom into action here on this uber-busy Thursday but will North Carolina and/or Virginia be feeling a little quarterfinal round pressure considering both are very high on the lists for potential/probable #1 NCAA Tournament seeds? Plus, we wonder aloud whether or not Wednesday's winners will carry any real momentum into this group of games - don't be surprised if Carolina and Virginia both start slowly in these quarters and their respective opponents in this tourney are the ones going cha-ching.
BIG EAST - at New York City, NY
Gonna be paying special attention to #3 seed Seton Hall (22-8, 12-6) here as the Pirates have won eight of their last 10 games since late January and these Jersey boys play fierce defense - no doubt getting out on Creighton's three-point shooters the key to victory tonight (tip-off at 9:30 p.m. ET) but beyond this The Hall could be a rock-solid investment. Top seeds Villanova (27-4) and Xavier (26-4) in position to gain numero uno NCAA Tourney seeds with a mini-tourney title here and some outside help (need Michigan State or Virginia or North Carolina to lose) but beware these price tags.
BIG 12 - at Kansas City, MO
Best league in the land is in great shape for next week's NCAA Tournament with Kansas a likely #1 seed in the Big Dance while Oklahoma could be a #2 seed and ditto for West Virginia should the 'Neers at least get to the Big 12 final this Saturday. So - you might ask - what's really on the line here and we'll tell you: The likes of Baylor and Texas Tech are hoping to win a game or two and thus avoid landing on that likely #8/#9 seed line in the NCAAs plus Iowa State is trying to untangle its way from a messy regular-season ending that included a 5-5 SU (straight-up) mark since the days of early February. No question Kansas is the favorite but this could be an up-for-grabs mini-tourney with seven teams sporting RPIs of 28-or-better.
SEC - at Nashville, TN
You would not be entirely wrong to believe there's as many as six bubble teams in the Southeastern Conference as we speak - and tonight's Alabama vs. Ole Miss game could kayo the loser (although we believe Ole Miss is on the inside-looking-out right now) - but better believe the likes of Georgia, Florida and Arkansas are feeling major heat while coming into "Music City" and don't see any of these teams being major money-makers this March weekend. Hey, we didn't mention a word about favorite Kentucky or co-regular-season champ Texas A&M ... but something tells us neither will be big-time money-makers this weekend.
PAC-12 -- at Las Vegas, NV
The top four seeds - that's Oregon, Utah, California and Arizona - all swing into action following Wednesday's first-round games and we suggest all of those top seeds have lots to play for this week/weekend:
Oregon (25-6) could be as high as an NCAA Tournament #2 line seed with a Pac-12 mini-tourney title;
Utah (24-7) could jump from a more-than-likely fourth seed in the NCAAs to as high as the 2-line with a title here;
California (22-9) is scorching-hot with eight wins in its last nine games and could position itself as an NCAA Tourney #3 seed with a championship here;
And Arizona (24-7) - which we continue to contend has the best top-to-bottom talent in this league - could get on the three-seed line by winning it all here.
Meanwhile, check with us on our daily plays with Jim Hurley's Network - online here or at 1-800-323-4453 - but if any of these top four seeds are getting points this weekend we're likely "biting".
