THe NFL Week 5 Report

THE NFL WEEK 5 REPORT -WILL FALCONS, BENGALS, PACKERS STAY PERFECT SPREADWISE COME SUNDAY?

Folks, here's the week-by-week pointspread breakdown when it comes to the National Football League this year in terms of the league's Betting Favorites:

BETTING FAVS
Week 1          9-6-1
Week 2          7-9-0
Week 3          8-7-0 (1 Pick' Em)
Week 4          6-8-1
Total ...         30-30-2 (1 Pick 'Em)

So, you talk about "breaking even" save for the all-important vigorish here but let's take you down a different road and that's the three NFL teams that are a perfect 4-and-oh against the spread this year ... will any/all of 'em stay perfect this gridiron weekend?
Keep in mind that last year when the dust settled the best NFL teams against the spread (including post-season play) were the Indianapolis Colts at 12-6-1, the Arizona Cardinals at 11-6 and then the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings each at 10-6 ... and right now you'd have to think that one-or-more of these below-mentioned teams will wind up with a better spread log than the pointspread leaders last year, right?

Here's who we are paying extra-special attention to on this October weekend:
ATLANTA - The born-again Falcons are a TD-plus betting fav for this Week 5 home tilt against Washington and whether it's been a revitalized ground game starring second-year pro Devonta Freeman (252 yards rushing and 7 TDs) or a beefed-up defense that's put the second-half squeeze on Dallas, then the first-half squeeze last week on Houston all we'll say is the fact of the matter is rookie head coach Dan Quinn's club been a bettor's delight.
Spread Factoid - The Falcons' best spread mark the past 10 years was the 11-5 ATS (against the spread) record back in 2009 but this NFC South crew has a real jump-start on that mark, eh?

CINCINNATI - The tired, old news this past spring/summer was that the Bengals "can't win the big one" as they've exited the post-season after one single round of play in each of the past four years but now how about handing out some love to the Cincy kids for this blazing 4-0 ATS spread start that includes covers against three AFC West teams (see Oakland, San Diego and Kansas City)? If the Bengals are gonna cover the 3-point home price this weekend versus Seattle, then "Red Rooster" QB Andy Dalton (1,187 yards passing) must stay upright against this Seahawks' pass rush but the real X-factor is Cincinnati's stay-at-home defense against Seattle QB Russell Wilson who was sacked six times last Monday Night in that controversial 13-10 non-cover win against Detroit. Wow, a 4-0 spread start for the Bengals might get everyone in town hittin' the chili joints!
Spread Factoid - Cincinnati's enjoyed only one 10-win spread season these past 10 years (see a 10-6-1 ATS log back in 2013).

GREEN BAY - Hey, the Packers have been betting favorites for the first four weeks of the year but note they covered the numbers by just 2, 7, 4.5 and 6.5 points, so it's not as if Mike McCarthy's crew has been delivering lethal body blows to other teams and now here's Green Bay laying 9 points this Sunday against oft-frisky St. Louis. Do the undefeated spread days end right here? Well, can you tell us if the Rams' potent front four is gonna get their hands on QB Aaron Rodgers who leads the NFL with a 125.9 passer rating to go along with his 11 touchdown throws or will he be able to pick-and-choose his downfield targets as has been the case for the first month of play?
Spread Factoid - Believe it or not, the Packers are a grand total of 105-55-1 ATS under boss-man McCartney and that's an incredible .656 winning rate.

Jim Hurley's Network has been scorching hot in recent days with both Football and Baseball Winners. Here's a little sampling of what America's #1 Handicapper has won with ...
In NFL Week 4 play, we smashed the books with the New York Giants (+ 6.5) over Buffalo 24-10 and with Minnesota (+ 7) getting the cover at Denver in 23-20 Broncos' non-cover win. We loved the fact we were snatching up a bundle of points with two solid defenses and two good underdog coaches ... but that's not all.

Our College Football Winners to start off this weekend featured Washington (+ 17) shocking USC 17-12 this past Thursday Night while SMU (+ 25.5) covered in Houston's 49-28 win the same evening. Both price tags were way out of whack - we did our research and knew USC was a sub-.500 club spreadwise as favorites the past handful of years (see 16-18 vig-wise) while our reports were that amped-up/improved SMU would score some points against the UH Coogs as the Ponies came into that game averaging a hefty 31.4 points per game. Cha-ching! Chuck into the mix our Major-League Baseball action as we won the NL Wild Card Game - an "under" winner with the Chicago Cubs winning 4-0 at Pittsburgh - and it's been a great past few days!
