Blazers hold off KingsNicolas Batum and Andre Miller each tallied 14 points for the Trail Blazers, who won for the fourth time in five contests and continue to hold the eighth spot in the Western Conference.
"We didn't dominate this game like we wanted to come out, but we'll take the win," Roy said. "We've got to continue to improve. I thought our defense got better, but offensively, we weren't very good tonight."
Marcus Camby had a solid defensive effort with eight rebounds and five blocks, while LaMarcus Aldridge scored 13 and Martell Webster added 11 off the bench.
"I thought he was huge," Blazers coach Nate McMillan said of Camby. "We don't win the game tonight if he doesn't make some of the plays he made. He had a baseline jump shot, he had two blocks. He got on the floor for a loose ball on the defensive end of the floor, which I thought gave us some life. Those were big plays. We got some stops and enough stops to score some baskets and eventually get control of this game and put it away."
Tyreke Evans had 18 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Kings, who dropped their third in a row. Carl Landry scored 17 and Beno Udrih 13, but Sacramento was held without a point for a key three-minute stretch late in the game.
"We just didn't convert or execute down the stretch and that is something we have to learn how to do, being a young team," Landry said. "We have great talent in this locker room, we just have to learn how to execute down the stretch when the game is on the line."
A pair of free throws from Landry had the Kings within 81-78 with 3:35 left in the game, but Batum countered with a layup to start Portland's push to seal the victory. Roy drained a jumper with 2:07 left and then converted 1-of-2 foul shots with 1:23 left.
Miller's two foul shot capped Portland's big 7-0 run with 30.8 seconds left for the 88-78 cushion.
The Trail Blazers opened the game on a 12-2 run before the Kings bounced back with a 21-4 run to take a 23-16 lead. Sacramento held a 29-25 lead after one quarter. Portland used a 10-1 run late in the second to lead 52-40 before Landry ended the half on a jam.
Portland saw its lead trimmed to a pair at one juncture of the third, but then widened the margin to 73-62 moving to the fourth as Webster drained a three- ball in the final minute.
Sacramento opened the fourth quarter on a 12-1 run to tie the game, 74-74, but never led in the final period.
