Jays' Lawrie headed to DL; Bautista to remain sidelined

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Toronto Blue Jays infielder Brett Lawrie is headed to the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right oblique muscle, while slugger Jose Bautista remains sidelined with an injured wrist.

Lawrie has not played since leaving an August 3 game against Oakland and had been listed as day-to-day. The Blue Jays will make a corresponding roster move on Friday when they return to Toronto.

The 22-year-old has nine homers, 40 runs batted in and a .282 batting average in 100 games this season. He hit .293 with nine homers in 43 games last year in his first taste of big league action.

Bautista, meanwhile, will be sidelined for at least another week after results of another MRI exam on his left wrist remained unchanged. He continues to have mild inflammation.

The slugger hasn't played since July 16 when he hurt his wrist during a swing in a game against the New York Yankees.

Bautista, the AL's home run leader each of the past two years, was second this year with 27 when he was placed on the DL. He has also driven in 65 runs and is batting .244 in 90 games.
